regional hospitals of Ngaoundéré, Garoua and Maroua (Cameroon) [PDF] Ngaroua , Abdahllat, Dah’Ngwa Dieudonné, Eloundou N. Joseph
The operating room is an enclosure dedicated to invasive acts performed whatever the
modality and purpose, in using the appropriate equipment and bringing together all the
medical and paramedical skills required to ensure patient safety
(Iradj GANDJBAKHCH ; 2009). The room theater is confronted to constant evolutions
of technological innovations and acceleration regarding healthcare needs. So, for this
study, we defined as general objective the description of the environmental and
technological situations of the theaters of the regional hospitals of Ngaoundéré (RHN)
Garoua (RHG) and Maroua (RHM). Hence, we carried out a prospective study in the
hospitals from March 16 to June 15 2015. We had 43 personnel who participated to
the study. Among the participants, 36% uses normally the tools of organization
process of the theater but the results of the ratio of the structure indicators is largely
above targeted values at the RHN. As such, the quality of care brought to patients and
the fight against infections reliable to care must be the priority of all actions in regard to
the organization of the room theater.
EVALUATION OF THE RATE OF MORTALITY RELATED TO THE SURGICAL
MANAGEMENT OF PERITONITIS AT THE REGIONAL HOSPITAL OF NGAOUNDERE (Cameroon) [PDF] Ngaroua *1&2 , Ibrahim², Dah’Ngwa Dieudonné², Eloundou N. Joseph 3
Peritonitis is defined as an inflammation of the serosal membrane that lines the
abdominal cavity and the organs contained therein. It is a medico-surgical
emergency. The objective of this study was to determine the mortality rate related to
peritonitis at the Regional Hospital of Ngaoundéré (RHG). As such, we carried out a
cross-sectional retrospective study for a period or 10 years going from January 1 st

acute peritonitis; and collected the following variables: socio-demographic variables,
clinical variables and therapeutic care management data. Results obtained from
overall 171 enrolled patients reveals that, 71% of the patients were of the male sex
and 29% female with a sex ratio of 2.42 in favor of men. Patients mean age was
28.98±15.53 years. The etiologies that dominated the sample were gastric
perforations (24.5%) and appendicular perforations (22%). The rate of mortality
obtained was 14.02%. Peritonitis accounted for 15.7% of abdominal emergencies in
this study.
Visual Communication and Dual Coding Theory: Presenting Information in Motion Graphics [PDF] Danya J. Yalung, Ian Boots B. Bautista MaEd
Motion Graphics has been used as a means of communicating with the viewers and adds depths to a story by presenting information which gives it the capability to convey large quantity of information to the audience that can make use of the ability of motion graphics in incorporating different types of media such as animations, graphic designs and films. However studies show that motion graphics doesn’t really lead to a much better outcome than static conditions. The purpose of this study is to come up with an output using the factors of Visual Communication and Dual Coding Theory that help provide a better understanding of excerpts from Nick Joaquin’s book entitled Culture and History which further utilized the ability of motion graphics in conveying information to the audience. With the use of factors from Visual Communication and Dual Coding Theory, the feedback from the motion graphics amounted to 86.7% of positive response to the effectivity of motion graphics as a presentation tool of information. The function of Visual Communication in the motion graphics is using a person’s visual senses in attracting the viewer with colors, and semiotics that resemble the images familiar to the viewer, together with the additional feature of Dual Coding Theory combination of visual imagery and audio.
FLORAL DISTRIBUTION, ABUNDANCE AND DIVERSITY OF MANGROVES IN SANGUPIDDY, KILINOCHCHI, THE NORTHERN COAST OF SRI LANKA [PDF] Ahalya Arulnayagam
Sri Lanka, a precious little tropical island in the Indian Ocean harbors a remarkable amount of mangrove habitats scattered along the coastal zone of the country, yet confined to narrow strips since the country has a low tidal amplitude. However, most of the researches have given importance to the mangroves of wet zone of the country. Although neglected, Northern province shares about 16% of the total mangrove extent of the country. The research aimed to identify the floral distribution of mangroves in Sangupiddy of the Northern province, Sri Lanka. Mangrove vegetation was surveyed with 5m belt transects laid perpendicular to the shoreline and across the water – land gradient. True mangrove species in each transect were identified and counted. The quantitative data has been used to compute Shannon diversity index (H), Simpson Index (D) and Shannon Evenness (E), which were used to compare the diversity of the sites, sampled. Two true mangrove species of two families were identified at the site. Highest Shannon diversity index (H = 0.27) and the lowest Simpson index value (D = 0.72) was observed in 2nd transect. Since the place is used for fishing and tourism, pollution and human interaction can degrade the environmental quality of the mangrove habitats. Actions should be taken for conservation of existing patch and replenishment of new mangroves.

Abstract
Introduction:
Appendicitis is considered a surgical emergency and acute disorder and is common in widespread all over the world, which can present with specific and sometimes non- specific symptoms. Appendicitis means Inflammation of the Appendix followed by obstruction of Lumen of the Appendix, which is used various methods to diagnose it, including laboratory examination of the blood. It is said that 80 to 85 percent of Patients with Appendicitis have Leucocytosis and more than 75 to 78 percent of patients have Neutrophilia and Lymphopenia.
Objective
To determine of Neutrophil to Lymphocyte ratio in acute appendicitis.
Method
Across Sectional study was performed in which Deferential Leukocyte Count (DLC) of Patients suffering from appendicitis in Aliabad Teaching Hospital surgical service during the year (2018-2019), was studied the ratio of neutrophils to lymphocytes was determined. .
Results
In total the laboratory exam of 63 patients with appendicitis had been included for the evaluation and statistical analysis.
The average ratio of N/L was found to be 3.8 ± 0.1, that is higher than its normal value (2.06), So the results of this Study shows that the Ratio of Neutrophil to Lymphocyte in Patients with Appendicitis is too high, which might be a good Diagnostic criterion for these Patients.
Conclusion
As the Ratio of Neutrophils to Lymphocytes increases in Patients with Appendicitis, it is suggested that this ratio be considered at the time of Diagnosis in addition to other diagnostic Examinations.

Effect of Mixing Speed and Time on Fresh Properties of Cement Mortar [PDF] Buddhi Raj Joshi, Lecturer, School of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, Pokhara University; Pokhara Metropolitan City-30, P.O. Box 427, Kaski. NEPAL
Fresh properties of concrete are vitally important to make the well compaction in order to achieve the designed target of strength, serviceability and durability of the concrete structures. Fresh property of cement mortar (mortar) is generally judged by the workability and the air content. The workability refers to the compacting condition of the concrete which is directly related to the density and strength. The air content is required to maintain the durability of the structures especially minimizing the effect of freezing and thawing action. The workability, density and air content of the mortar are directly proportional to those of mortar for the given concrete mix. These parameters greatly depend upon the mixing speed and time of the mixer. This paper reports about the workability, density and air content of the mortar mixed in the mortar mixer with varying of mixing speed and time. The workability of mortar was measured by the table flow test. It was concluded that there should be the appropriate combination of mixing speed and time to achieve the optimum fresh quality of mortar in terms of workability, air content and density.

Advancement in the diagnosis of Tuberculosis [PDF] Muluken Dejen
Tuberculosis is still one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity among the infectious diseases in developing and in developed countries. The domestication of cattle, thought to have occurred between 10,000 and 25,000 years ago, would have allowed the passage of a mycobacterial pathogen from domesticated livestock to humans, and in this adaptation to a new host, the bacterium would have evolved to the closely related M. tuberculosis. Delayed or mis-diagnosis and poor treatment, particularly in resource-poor settings, has aggravated the transmission of TB. Inability to detect and treat all infectious cases of pulmonary tuberculosis in a timely fashion has allowed continued M. tuberculosis transmission within communities and caused failure to control its spreading. Currently there has been a marked progress in the development of drug and testing tools to detect TB complex and of the resistant isolate. These diagnostic tools are expected to provide rapid and accurate information for detecting resistance to guide selection of the treatment regimen for each patient. The contribution of globally representative genotypic, phenotypic, and clinical data in achieving the need of accurate diagnosis is tremendous. The advancement of new diagnostics facilitate clinical decision making, and improve surveillance for drug resistance.

DETERMINANT FACTORS AFFECTING TRAINING BUDGET ABSORPTION PERFORMANCE: A CONCEPTUAL MODEL [PDF] Zainuddin, Aam Bastaman, Noverdi Bross
Human resource is one of the important component for any organizations, not only within the government but also in non-government or private sector. The role of human resources as a major component not only in planning activities but also as a driving force, and controlling the activities of the organization in order to achieve the desired target. In the governmental environment as evidence of advancing aspects of the quality of human resources, is the existence of bureaucratic reform related to the management of civil servants, where bureaucratic reform in Indonesia has been carried out since the government launched the grand design of national bureaucratic reform through Presidential Regulation No. 81/2010 so that bureaucratic reform efforts can be more directed and sustainable. Competence is defined as the underlying characteristics of a person relating to the effectiveness of one individual performance in his work or the basic characteristics of an individual who has a causal relationship or as a cause and effect with criteria that are used as a reference, effective or excellent or superior performance in the workplace or in certain situations. Performance is the result of quality and quantity of work achieved by an employee in carrying out their duties in accordance with the responsibilities given to them. This indicates that the organization must be able to give responsibilities to employees in accordance with the ability or expertise in carrying out the work. Employee performance is a function of the interaction between ability and motivation. This paper is a proposed conceptual model to find out what factors affecting budget absorption and how much it affects institutional performance.
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE CHARECTERSTICS IN DRAVET SYNDROME : A CASE STUDY [PDF] Maithily Rai, Easwari Gopakumar
A 2 year 4 months old child with no family history of speech and language delay was referred to speech language pathologist with the complaint of limited speech and language output. He was diagnosed with Dravet syndrome, which is one of the most malignant form of epilepsy.(Oguni et al., 2001;Dravet et al., 2005), . The most common gene mutation linked to Dravet syndrome is in a gene called SCN1A (Rosander, 2015) but not all SCN1A gene lead to Dravet syndrome.
On evaluation it was observed that the child has severe delay in speech and language skills. Results revealed that Phonology, semantics, Play and Pragmatics of the child was within the age range of 9 to 12 months, Syntactic development of the child was nil. He started babbling by 1.5 years of age, bysyllabic utterances are not achieved. Feeding skills of the child are affected, he has difficulty in swallowing the food with solid consistency and uses smooth consistency food.Sudden unexpected death is high in Individual with Drawet syndrome. It is very important for a professional to have an idea about the seizure triggers for an effective rehabilitation.
DIVERSITY ASSESSMENT OF RICE (Oryza sativa L) LANDRACES ADOPTED TO TERAI, NEPAL [PDF] Samir Poudel, Ankur Poudel, Sabina Poudel, Shishir Neupane and Nikita Bhandari
Rice landraces provide opportunities to develop and to improve the genotypes. The large scale spread of modern, high yielding varieties has replaced the traditional varieties leading to reduced genetic base and increased genetic vulnerability and erosion. The objective of the study was to assess characters, diversity and determine the correlation among the yield and yield attributing agro-morphological traits. Twenty eight landraces of rice collected from terai region of Nepal were characterized in AFU, Rampur, Chitwan, during rainy season of 2018. The experiment was conducted under rod row matrix design. 10 quantitative and 12 qualitative characters were recorded.Maximum variability was seen in culm lodging resistance, auricle colour, lemma colour of apiculus while minimum variability was recorded in basal leaf anthocyanin coloration and culm underlying internode coloration. The correlation study showed grain yield was positively and significantly correlated with number of filled grains per panicle, thickness of seed and 1000 grain weight while it was found positively correlated with panicle length and length of seeds. Also, grain yield was found to be negatively correlated with culm number, panicle number and number of unfilled grains per panicle. For cluster analysis, landraces were grouped into four clusters and the inter-cluster values ranged from 170.29 to 706.183 which indicate wide range of diversity between the landraces. Shannon index was ranged from 1.41 to 0.41 while evenness ranged from 0.475 to 0.959. Results suggested that the number of filled grains per panicle, thickness of seed and 1000 grain weight should be considered for the selection than other traits for yield breeding programme.
