BETWEEN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DREAMS: THE LIVED EXPERIENCES OF OFFICE-WORKING PROFESSIONALS PURSUING A MASTER’S IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY WHILE SUPPORTING THEIR FAMILIES [PDF] Lito Samosa Selencio and Josefina R. Sarmiento, PhD
This study, titled "Between Responsibilities and Dreams: The Lived Experiences of Office-Working Professionals Pursuing a Master’s in Information Technology While Supporting Their Families," explores the experiences and strategies employed by 12 focus group discussion (FGD) participants from MIT 2, S.Y. 2024-2025. Utilizing a qualitative research methodology, the study gathered data through FGDs, questionnaires, and observations to analyze how working professionals navigate the challenges of balancing work, studies, and personal responsibilities while pursuing higher education.
The findings reveal that office-working professionals perceive balancing academic responsibilities and financial obligations as both a challenge and an opportunity, requiring sacrifices in personal time, finances, and well-being but fostering career advancement and long-term growth. These students face significant challenges, including time constraints, stress, financial burdens, and difficulty in maintaining work-life balance, which impact their overall performance and well-being. However, the pursuit of an MIT degree enhances essential skills such as time management, resilience, and problem-solving, despite the stress and fatigue involved. While full-time employment alongside graduate studies provides career growth and financial stability, it also results in exhaustion and reduced personal time. To mitigate these challenges, professionals employ various strategies, including effective time management, workplace flexibility, financial planning, and strong support systems.
Based on the findings, the study concludes that office-working professionals pursuing an MIT degree experience both obstacles and opportunities, as their sacrifices contribute to long-term professional and personal development. The difficulties they encounter significantly impact their well-being, yet they develop skills that are essential for career progression. While balancing multiple responsibilities remains challenging, the adoption of effective strategies enables working professionals to navigate their academic and professional commitments successfully.
The study recommends that office-working MIT students implement structured time management and stress reduction strategies to maintain productivity and well-being. Educational institutions and employers may consider offering flexible learning options, financial assistance, and wellness programs to support students. Additionally, universities may provide scholarships and stress management workshops to alleviate financial and emotional burdens. Finally, working professionals should establish realistic career goals and leverage networking opportunities to maximize professional growth while ensuring a sustainable work-study-life balance. Sujet : Projet de construction d’un bâtiment administratif en deux niveaux (R+1) de la délégation régionale de la 5ème CELPA au Quartier Plateau Médical dans la Commune Makiso (Kisangani/RDC). [PDF] Ass. Ir. Marceline OTEMAKOY Mboko (IBTP-KIS/RDC), Ass. Ir. Dieu Merci BAWELEMISE Yenga (IBTP-KIS/RDC), Ass. Ir. David Matho Ngoma (IBTP-KIS/RDC), Ass. Ir. Stanislas OFEKA Ndomba
This research is based on the construction of an administrative building on two levels (R+1) of the regional delegation of the 5th CELPA in the Plateau Médical District in the Makiso Commune. We started from the observation that the existing administrative building of the regional executive of the 5th CELPA no longer meets civil engineering requirements. Three objectives are pursued, namely: to inventory the procedures for erecting the construction of an administrative building on two levels (R+1) of the regional delegation of the 5th CELPA in the Plateau Médical District in Makiso Commune; identify the materials that will be used to materialize this work; and choose the structure to use for the construction of this work.
However, the methods applied in public works were employed. Among these methods, we have the analytical method, the graphic method, the documentary technique. The techniques of disengaged direct observation, free interview and the use of SketchUp, Revit, autocad, Lumion10, ArchiCAD 23 software allowed us to design the plan and the different views of the work. After implementing this methodology, we achieved the following results: by making the various sizing calculations, we achieved a good result while keeping in mind that our work will remain stable.
We proceed by designing a new infrastructure, checking the stability at each point of the basic structures of the building, checking the ground constraints and describing the work that will be carried out. The structure will be a load-bearing frame; all loads and overloads will be ensured by the slab-beam-column system to ensure fair and uniform transmission to the foundation soil, thus guaranteeing good stability of the structure.

Sujet : Les politiques stratégiques de l’impact environnemental dans l’exécution des travaux publics et bâtiments comme gage d’investissement dans l’économie verte à Kisangani. [PDF] Ass. Ir. David MATHO Ngoma (IBTP/KIS- DRC)
Abstact
The city of Kisangani has real data found in the environment; this environment, in common parlance, means what surrounds the project's action area, but in the broadest sense, it is a sector where development has a direct (the developed area) or indirect (the periphery, downstream), immediate or long-term influence on living beings and their activities; which demonstrates the interaction between humans and the environment.
The work will consist of identifying the impacts, describing them, and then evaluating them to determine their significance. Mitigation measures will also be proposed for negative impacts, and possibly enhancement measures for positive impacts. We have taken into account the main activities that are sources of impacts associated with the construction and operation of public works. The environmental receptors considered include air, soil, and water for the physical environment; the living environment, health, safety, jobs, and economic activities. The environment has become a major concern today, particularly for those responsible for designing, constructing, and operating a structure.
Furthermore, any construction or infrastructure development project must undergo an environmental impact assessment to take into account the protection of the natural environment, natural resources, and the living environment of populations declared to be of general interest.
This is why every building and public works engineer must take the environment into account for the protection of flora and fauna. It is within this framework that our study, entitled "Strategic Policies for Environmental Impact in the Execution of Public Works and Buildings as a Guarantee of Investment in the Green Economy in Kisangani," falls.

Reading Edwidge Danticat's Breath, Eyes, Memory a s a Religious Novel [PDF] Alexis DIONE
The narrativization of oppression in Edwidge Danticat’s literary world, here, in Breath, Eyes, Memory (1994), has sought to envision religion not only as a tool for conversation between God and man but also as an instrument in the fight against both stronger external and internal forces. Sophie Caco’s closeness to the Holy Virgin through her daily rosary prayers is one side of the Haitian people’s search for God’s protection. As obeah practices were part of their cultural heritage, the defeated could not but resort to them for faster survival. Not to get dehumanised or killed, witches discreetly committed to defeating the evil domineering instinct of the Duvalier regime. In the history of the Caribbean archipelagos, such a mysterious resistance was widespread in folks' daily lives. Even equipped with the overt Christian religion, the West Indians brought along hidden mysterious practices. As a result, they could thwart adversity from both Christianity and Obeah. The latter ended up in syncretism as hostility pervaded the island. Female characters and their stories in Breath, Eyes, Memory exist, and these women are naturally related to the supernatural world. A close reading of these religious moments helps understand to what extent a syncretic religious tradition provides hope, comfort, and release for Danticat's female characters.

USER BEHAVIOUR ANOMALY DETECTOR [PDF] HARIKRISHNAN.B, SURESH KUMAR. R, VISHWA. S, Dr. S. MOHANDOSS, Ms.MagnaYadlapalli
The User Behavior Anomaly Detector is an extensive software developed to identify abnormal patterns of user behavior with machine learning and real-time processing. The system uses Isolation Forest, an unsupervised machine learning algorithm, for the detection of anomalies in user behavior data. Flask is used as the backend for web interaction; SQLite is employed in the data storage for user behavior; PyWebview GUI enables a comfortable desktop-like interaction, whereas FastAPI is used for scalable API-based interaction and testing. The guardians of the system shall enter behavior data through a web interface, and the Isolation Forest model will come into play for computation.
On the detection of an anomaly, the system is also supposed to send an email alert to notify administrators. There is a dynamic Chart.js display to observed user behavior data over time in the application, so the users can visualize these events over time among general trends. Thereafter, CRUD operations are performed in the backend to allow data retrieval and storage for maintaining logs of very healthy dynamics for user behavior. To make it more scalable and averse to abuse, FastAPI and rate limiting middleware are used in the project to prevent abuse. To encapsulate makes modular system that would be easier to scale further in the future; for example, incorporate more machine learning models or add to the API for external use. User Behavior Anomaly Detector, in total, is a strong real-time anomaly detection, easy-to-use tool usable for cybersecurity, fraud detection, and user activity monitoring

Modulation of the Human Gut Microbiota by Key Components of the Traditional Pakistani Diet (Spices and Dairy products): Implications for Mental Health [PDF] Haider Bashir
This review examines the role of dairy products and spices, key components of the traditional Pakistani diet, in influencing the human gut microbiome and mental health (anxiety, depression) which is one of the upsurging problems in the society of today. The gut microbiome's composition and function are increasingly implicated in the etiology of mental health disorders such as Alzheimer's etc. This review synthesizes evidence from studies investigating the effects of specific dairy products (e.g., yogurt, lassi) and spices (e.g., turmeric, cumin, ginger) within the context of this dietary pattern. Studies suggest that certain dairy products may positively modulate the gut microbiome through the introduction of probiotics, while some spices demonstrate anti-inflammatory properties that may also influence microbial composition. Alterations in the gut microbiome are discussed in relation to their potential impact on anxiety and depression. Further research is needed to fully elucidate the complex interactions between the traditional Pakistani diet, the gut microbiome, and mental health outcomes, but this review highlights the potential of dietary interventions for supporting mental well-being. One can say that a good diet can be an archetype of a good mental health or can be used to maintain our mental health thus being a silver-bullet for some deprived people of mental health.
L'expérience muséale et la construction de l'empathie historique [PDF] OMAR IDTNAINE
This study investigates the mechanisms of historical empathy development among 50 Ibn Zohr University students (25 in humanities and 25 in science and technology) during their visit to the Agadir Reconstruction Museum. Using a mixed-methods approach combining questionnaires, observations, and interviews, we analyze the differential impact of museum displays on three dimensions of historical empathy (cognitive, emotional, and ethical). Results reveal that audio testimonies and personal artefacts generate significantly stronger empathetic responses (p<0.05) than textual materials. A notable disciplinary divergence emerges: humanities students favor contextual approaches (archive analysis), while science and technology students demonstrate marked affective reactions to artefacts. These findings suggest that museum mediation of historical trauma should adapt its strategies to target audiences, combining scientific rigor with emotional engagement. The study contributes to debates about the pedagogical role of museums in post-traumatic societies
