The Contemporary Implications and critique of Bernard Lonergan’s Conception of Self-Affirmation []

Bernard Lonergan’s cognitional theory presents a conception of self-affirmation, which emphasizes the dynamic structure of human knowing through experiencing, understanding, and judging. This dynamic structure of knowing, which intends being, operates collaboratively and consists of functionally interrelated operations that leads to a better understanding of knowledge and of ourselves. Since self-affirmation intends being, it makes being the originating desire of human knowing. Without being, a human person cannot think and without thinking, they cannot know or get educated. Self-affirmation encourages individuals to actively engage with their own cognitive processes to reach deeper understanding and take up responsibility by their actions. For that matter it has various contemporary implications in the fields of education, critical thinking, decision-making, ethics, and in other current issues. This paper looks into the contemporary implications and critique of the structure of knowing which calls forth our cognitional activities and brings them all into a dynamic, moving unity of inter-related operations of our being.

The prevalence, morphological features and characteristics of Rotator cuff tendinitis in early-stage diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. []

This study addresses important issues in one of the most important musculoskeletal complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The data set used for this study was taken as primary information from Gweru Provincial Hospital. Objectives: To determine the prevalence, morphological features and characteristics of calcific tendinitis in patients with early-stage diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. Materials and methods: One hundred volunteers (200 shoulders) who had been referred to the physician clinic participated in the study. The subjects underwent a high-resolution ultrasonography of both shoulders, and those with a diagnosis of calcific tendinitis had their results documented. The prevalence of asymptomatic rotator cuff calcific tendinitis was determined, and differences in morphological features between the diabetic and non-diabetic sub-groupings compared. Results: The prevalence of rotator cuff calcific tendinitis was higher in females at 17 %(np=17) than in males 10% (np=10). The supraspinatus tendon was the most frequently involved in both diabetic and non-diabetic participants with diabetic patients having more calcifications in the supraspinatus 67.4% (nc=60) as compared to 14.6 %(nc=13) observed in non-diabetic patients. Calcifications with a maximum diameter between 2 and 5 mm were the most common amongst diabetic patients constituting 56.2%(nc=50) were as amongst non-diabetic’s dimensions < 2mm were most common constituting 18 %(nc=16). Nodular type calcifications were more predominant amongst the diabetics at 52.8% (nc=47) as compared to linear calcifications which were dominant in non-diabetics at 14.6 %(nc=13). The majority of calcifications noted in diabetics demonstrated faint posterior acoustic shadowing at 56.2 %(nc=50) in contrast to non-diabetics with predominantly strong shadowing calcific deposits at 17.9 % (nc = 16).

LEARNING HUB FOR SLTCFPDI INTEGRATED FARMING []

This dissertation explores the potential of the Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation Pio Duran Incorporated (SLTCFPDI) to address agricultural challenges and contribute to local economic development in Pioduran, Albay, Philippines. It aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger by targeting the systemic issues of food insecurity and poverty among farmers and fisherfolk. Despite the Philippines' agricultural resources, existing agri-food systems fail to generate sustainable income for primary producers. This study outlines a strategic plan for an Integrated Farm at SLTCFPDI, focusing on enhancing agricultural education and fostering development of agripreneurship among local stakeholders. The study is a cooperative inquiry involving SLTCFPDI administration and stakeholders of the school, Thus, the research design is qualitative involving documents analysis, survey, and consultative discussion with stakeholders to assess the current state of agricultural programs and identify opportunities for improvement. The ultimate output of the study is a design of an Integrated Farm to serve as a learning site and TESDA training center, aimed at ultimately facilitating the empowerment of local farmers through education and modern agribusiness practices. By documenting the farm's development and engaging with community partners, this study aims to contribute a model of sustainable agricultural practices and educational frameworks that can be replicated in similar contexts. PHYTOCHEMICAL, ANTIBACTERIAL, ANTIOXIDANT AND CYTOTOXIC EVALUATION OF EXTRACTS FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF DETARIUM MICROCARPUM []

Detarium microcarpum, which grows abundantly in savanna forests, is used for both food and medicinal purposes. The plant is widely used to treat various diseases including sexually transmitted infections (STIs), diarrhea, urinary tract infections (UTI), and other health conditions. However, the main active compounds responsible for these bio-activities have not been well elucidated. The main objective of this study is to identify the main group of compounds present in various parts of this plant and their bio-activities. Extracts were obtained from the leaf, stem bark and root bark of the plant using Soxhlet extraction methods involving different solvents in their order of polarity. Upon phytochemical analyses, most of the extracts showed the presence of many bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, saponin etc in good quantities. These compounds present also showed good antibacterial, antioxidant and cytotoxic activities. There is need for further research to isolate these bioactive phytochemicals.

ENHANCING TRAFFIC SAFETY ON THE YAOUNDE-BAFOUSSAM ROAD THROUGH INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS. []

Improving road safety on the Yaounde-Bafoussam axis is a major challenge in Cameroon, where traffic accidents continue to occur frequently despite the measures implemented by transportation authorities. These accidents incur enormous human, material, and financial costs to the government. This study proposes the integration of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to reduce the risk of accidents and optimize traffic flow. Through an analysis of accident reports, road state to determine the causes of road unsafety (speeding, dangerous overtaking, poor signage), and a review of ITS solutions (monitoring sensors, dynamic signs, adaptive traffic management), we assess their potential for application on this strategic corridor. Expected results include fewer collisions, better flow management, and real-time user awareness. A pilot implementation and appropriate public policies could serve as a model for other national roads.

Addressing Inequities in Healthcare Benefit Distribution: A Systematic Review of Republic Act No. 7875 and the Universal Health Care Act's Impact on Health Equity in the Philippines []

This systematic review investigates the inequalities in benefit distribution under Republic Act No. 7875, which established the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) and its subsequent amendments, particularly the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act equity in the Philippines. The study aims to analyze the impact of the NHIP on access to healthcare services and equity among different socioeconomic groups. Utilizing content analysis of existing research and legislative documents, this review identifies three primary themes: inequities in benefit distribution, access to healthcare services, and the legislative impact on health equity. The research identifies key factors contributing to these inequalities, including tax contributions versus government support dependency, geographic and educational disparities, and perceived inequities in benefit allocation. Marginalized populations face various barriers to accessing healthcare services, such as financial constraints, inadequate facilities in rural areas, lack of health literacy, and cultural stigmas. The study highlights that taxpayers often feel disadvantaged compared to non-contributors who receive similar benefits, raising concerns about fairness within the system. To address these on-going disparities, the research calls for targeted legislative changes that enhance transparency in benefit allocation, provide incentives for formal employment, and improve health literacy among underserved populations. Ultimately, the findings underscore the need for continued evaluation and reform of the NHIP to ensure equitable access to healthcare for all Filipinos.

QUAND L’INTELLIGENCE ARTIFICIELLE INSPIRE : LA CREATION LITTERAIRE A L’ERE DE L’IA Réinvention de l'écriture à l'ère de l'intelligence artificielle. []
