Flexural strength of bamboo woven reinforced polyester composite after impacted []

Bamboo is used as reinforcement in composites because it is strong, light, and biodegradable. Composite design is carried out to obtain a strong composite. The selection of bamboo woven patterns can be used to increase resistance to impact loads so that the flexural strength of the composite is still maintained even though it is deformed due to impact. The results of this research can be a basis for the development of superior composite materials in various applications. In this research, composite specimens were reinforced with 3 bamboo woven patterns: plain, twill, and satin. Low-impact loads are applied to the specimen using a drop weight. After that, the flexural strength of the specimens was tested using a three-point bending test to evaluate the effect of the bamboo woven pattern on the mechanical properties after drop weight loading. The results of this research show that the bamboo woven pattern has a different contribution to reducing the flexural strength of the composite after drop weight loading.

CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES OF WOMEN MANAGERS: THE CASE OF PUBLIC SECTORS IN AMBO DISTRICT, ETHIOPIA []

ABSTRACT The study was generally intended to examine challenges facing and available opportunities for women managers in the Public Sectors of Ambo District, West Shoa Zone. Moreover, it was concerned with asking about the status, identifying challenges, and explaining opportunities taken by the sectors to resolve women managers’ problems. Simple random sampling was used to collect the required data through a structured questionnaire and conduct interviews with 1 head and 3 experts purposively selected to get sufficient information from the Women and Children’s office. One hundred thirty-one questionnaires (131) were distributed and ninety-five percent (95%) of them were returned were 5 % filled. To achieve the study's aims, the study used a descriptive research design along with Qualitative and Quantitative research approaches. A closed-ended questionnaire and a Five-point Likert scale were used as measuring methods. In addition, data were collected through interviews and document reviews to supplement data gained through a questionnaire survey. Tables and figures were used to show the data, which were then evaluated using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviations with the help of SPSS version 20). It is found that women are generally underrepresented in public sectors and the majority of them are not adequately held managerial positions. Gaps in the glass ceiling, socio-cultural factors, gender stereotyping, and individual and organizational barriers are the major challenges for women to join and step forward in managerial positions. Public sectors and the local government have taken some encouraging initiatives to increase women’s share of managerial positions. However, women themselves are not adequate to avoid the glass ceiling attitudes in managerial occupations although current political movements and international institutions’ pressure among others are available opportunities. Generally, women managers have encountered challenges both within the organization and outside of the organization. Therefore, in addition to using available opportunities, all collective efforts of stakeholders are generally recommended to minimize the challenges facing women managers in the public sectors of Ambo District. It is relevant that the roles played by women in the both films are abused, victimized, oppressed and marginalized by their male counterparts. Their place deserves to be brought to the fore as a framework to ascertain the reason for women’s stereotype in movies and the society at large. This study addresses the feminist discourses which women are gradually coming to the realization of the fact that their intervention in their homes is inevitable and thus undeniable. This study proved the point that whether a woman plays the role of a mother, a daughter, a wife, a sister, or a friend, as portrayed in movies in their home and larger society, the impact they has on their husband, children, relatives and those around them are undeniably remarkable. The findings of this study show that marital issues can result from women’s interest in their office work and business than domestic duties in their homes. Some men do not see anything good in their wives despite their effort to sustain the family. This study recommends that Nigerian women should begin to have confidence in their abilities at home and their offices to help them cope with marital issues. Government should make laws favourable to curtail marital issues in our society. Finally, Seminars and workshops should be organized regularly to educate women on the need to speak up to necessary bodies whenever they are faced with marital issues. Craniofacial Anthropometry: Estimation of Facial and Nasal Index for Adult Imo Indigenes, Nigeria []

The craniofacial complex is measured in cranial anthropometry. It is crucial for research on population variance, human growth, and medical care. In Nigeria, craniofacial data are crucial for creating the forensic database needed to identify age, gender, and racial variations in modern and prehistoric humans as well as to diagnose certain developmental disorders. Very little data on anthropometric characteristics involving head and face of Igbo extractions is accessible, despite the surge in crime scenes and corpse mutilations in Nigeria. Data was gathered using a variety of measurement tools, including tape, sliding calipers, rulers etc. Using SPSS computer software, the data were calculated and evaluated, and the findings were displayed in tables as means and standard deviations to condense the anthropometric measurements. Cephalic index was used as the dependent variable in the development of straightforward linear regression equations for estimating the face and nasal indices. The bulk of the indigenous people were classed as having a Hyperleptoscopic face phenotype. Most participants had a platyrrhiny nose type (86%), while 7.1% had a leptorhiny nose type and 6.9% had a mesorrhiny nose type. The majority of the males were hyperleptoscopic (87.9%), followed by leptoscopic, while the majority of the females were hyperleptoscopic (47.0%) followed by hypereuryoscopic(28.7%). According to this study, males have a greater nasal index than females.

Trilateral Relationship between energy consumption, Trade openness and economic growth in Nigeria using the panel ARDL model []

The objective of the research was to examined empirically the long and short run relationship among macroeconomic variables; electricity consumption, trade openness measured by export and import on economic growth of Nigeria. The study period spanned from 1971 to 2021. The data has the annual frequency. The time series properties of the data were, first, analyzed using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test and then Auto-Regressive Distributive Lag (ARDL) approach to cointegration was employed to assess the direction of impact and long-run relationships between the variables. Besides these, other diagnostic tests were also conducted and the result revealed that the model was correctly specified. The ARDL bound test analysis depicted the presence of cointegration relationship between economic growth and employed macroeconomic determinants (electricity consumption and trade openness measured by export and import). The ARDL model revealed that electricity consumption and export have a significant positive relationship on economic growth in the long run and short run while import has a significant negative relationship on economic growth in the long run. Thus, the findings revealed that electricity consumption and export have positive impact on the economic growth of Nigeria. In order to achieve the desired rate of economic growth it is recommended that there should be a continuous investment in electricity sector. It is also recommended that the earnings from the oil revenue should be channeled to the development of non-oil sectors such manufacturing and agriculture. This will help to diversify the export base of the economy thereby enhancing economic growth.
