Background
Some college students live away from home and make their meals, while others may choose to dine out. These factors contribute to college students not obtaining enough nutrients; a nutrient deficiency and a weak immune system may prompt them to take dietary supplements.
Objective
This study aims to determine the trends of dietary supplement usage among the health-allied students of Centro Escolar University- Malolos as a basis of pharmacist intervention.
Method
The study utilized a stratified random sampling technique to determine the 281 respondents and used an online questionnaire for data collection.
Results
The respondents take 1-2 nutritional role supplements per day to supplement nutrients to their health. The primary source of information was their family, yet they mainly purchase in the drugstore/pharmacy. Also, knowledge and perception do not differ substantially among health-allied students, indicating that they firmly agreed on positive and negative statements, implying that they are not well-versed in the use of dietary supplements. However, dietary supplements were never a consideration for non-users, while former users discontinued taking supplements because they no longer needed them.
Conclusion
Therefore, the trends indicated a need for educational intervention and direct engagement of the pharmacist to comprehend the dietary supplement.

ABSTRACT
Problem: Despite the efforts made by the Government of Tanzania since 1994 to reform the health sector, Tanzania is still facing a number of challenges: increasing morbidity and mortality rate due to HIV/AIDS and Malaria, increasing demand for health care due to population increase at a 2.032% growth rate and varying disease patterns, difficulties in forecasting demand fluctuations of medicines, shortfall in annual health sector budget allocations and increasing costs of essential health care medicines. These challenges hinder the achievement of quality health and weaken the nation.
Objective: The aim of this research was to critically analyze the current challenges facing the pharmaceutical supply chain and distribution network, evaluate implications on access to medicine and quality health care and identify areas for application of process innovation to improve the performance and match demand and supply of pharmaceuticals. The case study focused on the Public Pharmaceutical Sector in Tanzania.
Design/Methodology/Approach: This was an explanatory research design based on embedded multiple case studies. The unit of analysis was pharmaceutical supply chain and its participating organizations. The case study was based on “how” and “what” type of questions with a mixture of qualitative and quantitative data. Multiple sources of evidence “triangulation” were used to collect primary and secondary data. Worldwide pharmaceutical supply chain cases from the USA, India, China, Ghana and Zambia were selected for analysis to guide analytic generalization and recommendations. Cross-case and within case analysis techniques along with the conceptual framework and literature review were used to analyze the cases and case study protocol and database were developed.
Key Findings: The study found critical challenges; significant delays of more than 3 months of government funding to MSD, medicines are expensive; more than 20 million US dollar expenditures per year on medicines, a staggering debt of approximately 24 million US dollar to government, lack of stock control, poor demand and stock information flow, errors in demand forecasting as a result causing delays in delivery, stock-out, medicine shortages at health facilities and demand-supply mismatching. Changing disease patterns was also contributing to unavailability of medicines.
Conclusion: The poor performance of pharmaceutical supply chain and distribution network has negative implications on access to medicines and quality health care.
Recommendations: Process innovation model was proposed for analyzing the pharmaceutical supply chain performance. It was recommended a need for integration of activities in the supply chain along with collaboration and coordination among participants at each stage.

MOTIVATIONAL STRANDS ON LEARNERS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE:
BASIS FOR INSTRUCTIONAL ENHANCEMENT PLAN [PDF] Rellon, Romel U.
Motivation of learners is an important strand in education, particularly in achieving academic performance. It is one element that leads students’ attitude towards learning process. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the motivational strands influencing learners’ academic performance in the Division of Misamis Oriental during the School Year 2019-2020. The respondents of the study were the 500 senior high school students who were purposively selected. It made use of the questionnaire that was modified to elicit information on motivational strands on learner’s academic performance.
The data gathered from the survey were subjected to descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation to describe the variables in the study. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (r) was used to determine the relationship between motivational strands and learners’ academic performance. Regression analysis was employed to determine the effect of motivational strands on learners’ academic performance.
The motivational strands based on intrinsic and extrinsic motivations were significantly associated with learners’ academic performance. There is a significant effect of motivational strands on learners’ performance particularly on curiosity for English and Science, independent mastery to English and Mathematics; and extrinsic-teachers’ support on Science. Thus, the null hypothesis on significant effect of the motivational strands on learners’ academic achievement was rejected except on the strands mentioned above.
Moreover, teachers and parents should motivate their students to perform well in school. DepEd and school heads should formulate strategies to stimulate students’ motivation.

Integrating climate change concepts into quantitative subjects into Nigeria secondary science curriculum [PDF] Daniel Buba Mshelia, Justina T. Diblong, and Angela Peter,Usman Adamu
This paper tries to identify climate change and the emerging issues as well as the realities associated with it as part of sustainable development goals (SDGs) expected to be achieved by 2030 globally. It also emphasised the need for proper awareness and sensitization through enlightening students about climate change. It mentioned how climate change could be lifted into school curricular especially through the assistance of the quantitative subjects which uses data for planning, forecasting and correct inferences from data obtained. The paper suggest the use of climate into the curricular of quantitative subjects will bridge the gap of knowledge and awareness between the curriculum learnt in the secondary school and those intended to be learnt later in tertiary institutions. Also the knowledge acquired by the students can be spread and applied in the larger society by the students while relations and neighbours learn from them, since school is smaller part of the society. The paper also recommended that curriculum planners should consciously integrate climate change themes and concepts in secondary school curriculum for science and quantitative subjects using both the horizontal and vertical organisation of curriculum content and learning experiences. Further, real life climate change issues and problems should be used as examples to guide the teaching and learning of climate change concepts in quantitative subjects.

Comparative analysis of the Norwegian and Sri Lankan primary health care systems. [PDF] Dodanwalage Asela Kumar Perera
Norway and Sri Lanka are two countries located in two different geographic, socioeconomic and political contexts but experience similar epidemiological and demographic transitions. Both countries introduced the primary health care (PHC) approach over 100 years ago into the health system.
The purpose of this research paper is to describe, evaluate and compare the PHC systems of Norway and Sri Lanka to understand how well one system performs over the other. Data was gathered from selected documents, reports, research papers, websites, and informal interviews with experts.
Both countries provide comprehensive PHC services. Norway has a well-demarcated primary and secondary care delivery system, while Sri Lankan system is demarcated as preventive and curative care services. In Sri Lanka, primary medical institutions are bypassed due to the lack of defined population, referral system, and resources. Sri Lanka has identified the need for the reorganization of PHC. In Norway, PHC acts as a gatekeeper to the rest of the health system. Besides, Norway has some noteworthy initiatives in its PHC, including its regular general practitioner scheme, electronic health record system and telephone consultation. However, there remain some equity issues to resolve.
Structural Equation Model on Business Relational Capital of Women Entrepreneurs in Region XI [PDF] Celine Eleanor S. Ramos
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to come up with a causal model of business
relational capital of women entrepreneurs as influenced by human capital,
sustainable business practice, and customer’s financial behavior. A total of 400
respondents were randomly selected using stratified random sampling in Region
XI. In order to determine the best fit model, a structural equation modelling (SEM)
approach was employed. Results revealed that significant relationship exists
between human capital, sustainable business practices, and customers’ financial
behavior. The most sparing model (Model 4) provides a new foundation of
knowledge for the endogenous construct, business relational capital as indicated
by customer capital which was explicitly influenced by sustainable business
practices founded on attitudes towards sustainability and sustainable women
enterprises and sustainable business practices which is significantly influenced by
customer financial behavior as defined by its two relevant domains: financial
related behavior and financial attitudes towards risk and returns. In conclusion, the
final model represented a direct causal relationship between sustainable business
practices and customers financial behavior and was found to be the best fit model
for business relational capital of women entrepreneurs in Region XI. Based on the
final model, a sound research implications were clearly discussed.

MATRIX CONVERTER: A REVIEW FOR INDUCTION MOTOR [PDF] Madhulika Yadav, R. K. Jarial
In this paper a brief review of matrix converter is presented. The absence of the dc link in MC (Matrix converter) has led to extensive use for Artificial Loading in Induction motors. Earlier for the indirect power conversion system, first it ac-dc conversion was done then dc-ac but MC is an alternative to this due its advantages like in sinusoidal input output current ,unity distortion factor for any load and its four quadrant operation. Matrix converter is an energy conversion device which directly connects a three-phase voltage source to a three-phase load without dc-link components. Therefore, the output of the matrix converter is directly affected by the disturbance or imbalance in the input voltages. Its use for the induction motor control is also presented in this paper.
THE AESTHETIC VALUE OF USING TABLE LAMPS IN NIGERIAN BUILDINGS [PDF] Sikigha Daniel Ibaraghoemi, Ekiou Raphael Oyeinbrakemi, Engr. Dikuro Iwowari
Interior lighting design is one of the most things that is often placed in the "insufficient basket" when it comes to home renovations and builds. In Nigeria, little or none of this is considered, the aesthetic value in using Table lamps is not fully harnessed in the interior design of buildings. The importance of enhancing whatever beauty there may be in this particular area is not sufficiently appreciated. This work resulted from the lack of use of table lamps as lighting fixtures in Nigerian homes and the need to increase knowledge on the subject.
This article therefore sought to explore a best practice approach that could bridge this information gap, and ensure that table lamps are used widely in buildings in Nigeria. A qualitative method research approach involving several works of literature, observation and notes were adopted. Findings that emerged from the study were that Architects attitude towards the beauty of interior decoration at design stage was very poor, and in most cases clients were never aware of the beauty these light types provide to interior spaces. This study concluded that Architects must show prove that the interior decoration of their design has been carefully thought of before the building is constructed.
Determinants of Rural Women’s Adaptation Measures to Climate Change in Yeki Woreda, Sheka Zone of South Western Ethiopia [PDF] Mohammed Ahmed1*, Dereje Kifle2
Climate change is a global challenge that burdens all of humanity. However, the world’s poor, the majority of whom are women, are encumbered disproportionately. Adaptation is, therefore, considered as an important response, especially for those groups who are most exposed to and affected by its adverse effect. Hence, this study assessed the determinants of women’s choices of adaptation strategies to climate change in Yeki Woreda, Sheka Zone of South Western Ethiopia using a multinomial logit model. A three-stage sampling procedure was followed in selecting 150 women farmers from three kebeles. The result revealed that productive labor force, farm size, farming experience, wealth status, access to climate information, credit service usage and extension visit were found to influence women’s choice of adaptation strategies positively and significantly (P ≤ 10%). Therefore, development interventions, policies and supportive services should be designed at a different level to ensure effective access to climate information and affordable credit schemes for women households to enable them to plan and adapt in the face of the changing climate.
