Socio-religious practices and taboos established in households are one major factor of such discrimination, negatively affecting their workplace presence among organizations. From this perspective, this comprehensive research attempts to analyse leadership and management positions acquired by the women belonging to the Arab community dwelling in Israel. All of these things make it hard to give Arab women more leadership and management positions.

How do Arab students at higher education institutions perceive the role of the Arab principal in Israel in leading the school to excellence? [PDF] Narjis Husien-Vili, Girne American University (GAU), Co-Writer: Prof. Dr. İsmet Esenyel, Girne American University (GAU)
In the last two decades, the role of school principals has become more complex regarding school performance and growth toward excellence. While educational researchers and practitioners have largely agreed on the potential impact that principals have on school success, most of the extant literature is limited to Western countries. In the Middle East, and the Arab sector of Israel in particular, little is known regarding how Arab principals lead their schools to excellence. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the role of the Arab principal in Israel in leading the school to excellence. To understand the study problem, mixed-method research was used. Suitable data on the topic was collected from Arab students at higher education institutions from across the Arab sector. A total of 381 Arab students at higher education institutions participated in the survey questionnaires and 69 of them took part in individual interview sessions. Findings from survey responses with 381 students, in addition to insights from interview feedback from 73 students from across the Arab sectors showed that Arab principals have a central task of supporting their schools and ensuring they become successful. The principals lead their schools to excellence by initiating and implementing relevant curricula. In addition, principals lead schools to excellence by influencing decision-making regarding effective teaching and learning. Another important observation was that Arab principals create school excellence through collaborative school, family, and community engagement. Despite these findings, principals experience hurdles that might hinder their efforts to lead schools to excellence. Part of the challenges includes a lack of sufficient resources like learning materials, libraries, financial allocation, and lack of workshops. Also, there are inadequate opportunities for professional and skills development to ensure Arab principals have relevant leadership qualities that enable them to lead their schools to excellence.

Considering this perspective, this research attempts to analyse the role of principles in integrating students with disabilities in mainstream schools. Thus, to explore the phenomenon in this study, the case research of the Arab sector in Israel was chosen. For this, a mixed-method research framework was adopted, which helped infer qualitative and quantitative analysis on the subject. The results of this research have found key barriers to inclusion, such as physical barriers to inclusive education and policy implementation barriers to inclusive education. The findings showed that a mental issue is a substantial barrier to learning for students with disabilities. Some children with disabilities suffer cognitively and socially, which affects their performance in comparison to other students who do not have these problems. Out-of-school youth at risk in the Arab sector in Israel face continuous challenges as a result of early school dropout, engagement in crime, and poor transition into adulthood. Most of the risks these youth face can be addressed early in school days through the use of effective intervention programs. In Israel, students from the Arab sector are more likely to be at risk than students from the Jewish sector due to cultural background, ethnic differences, and historical issues. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of intervention programs for youth at risk on Arab middle and high school students in Israel. A mixed method approach involving qualitative research, case study, and quantitative research was used to examine the research aim and objectives. Appropriate data was collected through survey questionnaires and interview questions to assess the effectiveness of the traditional intervention programs on Arab students. Results from the study reveal that generally intervention programs are fundamental to the success of students in terms of enhancing their engagement to school, promoting the students’ educational aspects in regard to learning motivation, learning self-efficacy, and sense of belonging to the school. Also, the study found that intervention programs mitigate students against potential risk factors discipline problems and involvement in violence while promoting their future normative motivations such as occupational aspirations. However, the existing intervention programs are largely pro-Jewish centered and less effective on students from the Arab sector. In conclusion, new intervention program should be applied to at-risk Arab middle and high school students in Israel to better cultivate their academic potential and help inform better future career prospects.

Traditional complementary foods are with limiting nutrient quality and can be fortified using protein rich crops like soy beans and almond seeds. This research thus aimed at investigating nutritional quality of infant formulated diet from locally underutilized almond seeds, soybeans and coconut. The milks were produced from locally accessible plant –based vegetable. The energy was supplied from cereals. This finding was set to evaluate the formulation of weaning food from cereal-based composite porridges that supplement with soy-milk and almond milk as an alternative source for breast milk. The mixture of malted rice, powdered carrot, date and almond milk were mixed to slurry (formulation I) and boiled for 3-4mins. The same procedure was repeated for formulation II. The formulations and commercial based meal (control) were fed to experimental animals (white albino rat) for the period of three week (21-days). The performance in term of protein efficiency ratio, nitrogen retention and tissue weights were comparable with those of similar commercial weaning food (cerelac) sold in the market. The proximate and sensory analyses were also determined on new baby food as well. The results showed that the study successfully produced two different formulated diets of rice, carrot, date palm and using soy and almond milk as alternative sources for breast milk with acceptable sensory characteristic as well as excellent nutritional quality.
